    "summary": "The objective of this glider mission is to provide near-real time observations to improve weather forecasting models and better understand shelf break circulation and upper ocean mixing dynamics in the DeSoto Canyon region. The evolution of the upper ocean structure is heavily impacted by these complex cross-shelf transport mechanisms and is often a first-order control on hurricane intensity through air-sea interactions. Better descriptions of shelf break circulation and upper ocean mixing are therefore expected to lead to improved hurricane intensity forecasting and environmental response studies.  ",
